Farmington First United Methodist Church’s 59th Annual Pie Contest and Ice Cream Social

Contestants should arrive 1 hour early. There will be a Junior Division for contestants 17 years old and younger and a Senior Division for those 18+. Championship pie and ice cream will be served following the contest. Enjoy handmade pie, brownies and cream puffs topped with ice cream on Friday and Saturday at the social!

As the sun sets, guests can enjoy Light the Night. A spectacular Hot Air Balloon Light Show, showcasing 4 beautifully decorated hot air balloons. Folks young and old will marvel as the beauty of the night starts to light up with artistic, colorful patterns. The rising of the balloons is based on a very basic scientific principle, hot air is lighter than cool air which results in less mass per unit of volume. Science all around!

Film rolls at Dusk | Shiawassee Park
After the balloons begin to fade, Megamind will come to the big screen. The film opens with a flashback: as two planets are sucked into a black hole, each one sends out a rocket ship carrying an infant boy of that planet. Movies in the park and refreshments will all be part of this evening full of wonder!
Dr. Paws Therapy Dogs 10:00 a.m. – Shiawassee Park
Does your dog have what it takes to be a therapy dog?
Come out and visit the Dr Paws Therapy Dogs dogs in Memorial Park and see if your dog has what it takes to visit hospitals, nursing homes, Read to Rover programs at the libraries, and much, much more. It’s a great way to volunteer and give back with your dog and your family. You can bring your dog if it is one year of age and older to be evaluated by this nonprofit organization. We are looking for dogs with basic obedience training. If you prefer to just come out for the information you can attend and pick up a testing packet
